Battle

As a follower of Christ, battle is inevitable.
We can't go into battle unarmed.
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Casting down imaginations, and ever high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;
2 Corinthians 10:3-5    (Carnal: translated from the Greek word sarkikos, which literally means "fleshly")

We have to know who we're battling.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Ephesians 6:12

Most importantly, we have to obey our Commander.
We are commanded to STAND,
while we use our armor and our weapon of prayer.

 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with TRUTH, and having on the BREASTPLATE of RIGHTEOUSNESS; And your feet shod with the PREPARATION OF THE GOSPEL of PEACE; Above all, taking the SHIELD OF FAITH, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the HELMET OF SALVATION, and the SWORD of the SPIRIT, which is the word of God: PRAYING ALWAYS with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and WATCHING thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Ephesians 6:13-18

This battle can't be fought with worldly understanding. Although we are in the battle, we don't do the actual fighting.

Joy in Trials

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,4 to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled and that does not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,5 who are kept by the power of God through faith for salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.6 In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,7 that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,8 whom having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory,9 receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1Peter 1:3-9

This pic has to make you smile.
That's my niece, Peyton & you probably already know SpongeBob.
Hopefully her funny faces and his gap can bring a bright moment to your day.

God wants you to keep pressing toward the mark. When trials come, use them to prove the genuineness of your faith - there is no better time. Christ is worthy of all praise, honor and glory @ all times. You can lose everything and people can let you down, but Christ will give you the strength to persevere.

It's Not Dead (it just looks like it)

God spoke to me this morning.
The circumstances surrounding me halted my prayers.
I could not pray.
I have been feeling an indescribable hurt that suspended my ability to verbally communicate with my Father. BUT, my Father hears my tears; He hears the issues of my heart. He knows. Without me saying a word, He knows. He already knew. Because He already knew He has actually prepared me for this ugly thing. He has prepared me to overcome so that His glory is exemplified in a mighty way.

This is how He spoke.

They profess that they know God; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate. Titus 1:16

Paul is describing the character of false teachers. He starts in verse 10 and concludes with the verse above.

This is how so many people are being deceived.
"They profess that they know God;"
This is the key phrase because there is the where the dupe lies. We can't just follow or believe someone because they say they know God and we hear them quoting scripture correctly. That description is true of Satan, our adversary.
This was interesting to me: Not only does "profess" mean to affirm one's faith or to admit openly, it also means to declare in words or appearances only.

Basically, their mouths say they know God,
but their actions say they don't.

Here are some definitions to help clarify this passage:

abominable: worthy of or causing disgust or hatred; causing moral revulsion; loathsome; detestable

disobedient: refusing or neglecting to obey; refusing to obey someone in authority; deceptive

reprobate: an unprincipled person; a person who behaves in a morally wrong way

Father, help us to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh. Help us to be do'ers of your Word and not just speakers of your Word. Help us to represent you in the best ways possible, being reflections of your glorious light at ALL times. We love you, Father and we show that best when we obey your commands. Help us to be obedient to you. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Oh My God

He is GREAT & WORTHY to be praised.

I am reading Isaiah and I must share this goodness.
Only God has the authority to brag on Himself; and do not doubt that He can back it up.

Please read this:

Thus saith the Lord the King of Israel, and his redeemer the Lord of hosts; I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God. And who, as I, shall call, and shall declare it, and set it in order for me, since I appointed the ancient people? and the things that are coming, and shall come, let them shew unto them. Fear ye not, neither be afraid: have not I told thee from that time, and have declared it? ye are even my witnesses. Is there a God beside me? yea, there is no God; I know not any.

That was Isaiah 44:6-8. This is amazing stuff right here. This is your favorite meal accompanied with your favorite person in your favorite place while you wear your favorite outfit - you know what I'm saying?

Hugo

I keep my songlasses on as I walk around this world.
They have protective lenses to help me see better; they help me see through the eyes of Christ.

My husband and I love to watch movies - you probably do, too. As believers, we watch movies with our songlasses - always finding ways to illuminate the Word of God through what we see. I realize that the movie may not be saying what we're seeing, but because we have our songlasses on, we're able to pick out any similarities & use them to glorify God.

I'm late with this one, but the movie Hugo had some quotes I wanted to share...

Right after my father died, I would come up here a lot. I'd imagine the whole world was one big machine. Machines never come with any extra parts, you know. They always come with the exact amount they need. So I figured if the entire world was one big machine, I couldn't be an extra part. I had to be here for some reason. And that means you have to be here for some reason too."  ~Hugo Cabret

God is PERFECT. Every person is here for a reason. He has a purpose for you.

“Maybe that's why a broken machine always makes me a little sad, because it isn't able to do what it was meant to do...Maybe it's the same with people," Hugo continued. "If you lose your purpose...it's like your broken.” ~Hugo Cabret

We have been created to display God's glory. Walking in that Truth allows us to walk in His purpose for us.

"Once upon a time, I met a boy named Hugo Cabret. He lived in a train station. Why did he live in a train station? You might well ask. That's really what this book is going to be about. And about how this singular young man searched so hard to find his secret message from his father and how that message led his way all the way home." ~Isabelle

The message is the Word of God - the Bible. While it is not a secret, so many people ignore it or never even read it. That message will lead you home - to an eternal home with God.

Decent movie. 5 Oscars.

My little homie, Kaelin, took me to see this on my birthday - Aw!

Let God.

Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.
I needed this Word right now. Perhaps you needed it, too.
Our Father is ever-present. Nothing can overtake Him. Nothing is too hard for Him.
We will NOT fall because He, who is ALL POWERFUL, will give us strength.
He WILL help and support us.

For I the Lord thy God will hold thy right hand, saying unto thee, Fear not; I will help thee.
God - our Father - our Dad, is holding our hands!
He's looking down at us looking up at Him and He says, "Don't be scared. I will help you."
His Word is genuine. We can TRUST Him.

When the poor and needy seek water, and there is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the God of Israel will not forsake them. I will open rivers in high places, and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water.
When there looks like there is no way, God will make a way.
He knows what we need. He hears our heartaches. He is aware of our concerns.

That they may see, and know, and consider, and understand together, that the hand of the Lord hath done this, and the Holy One of Israel hath created it.
When there is no solution in sight, the atmosphere is perfect for God to work.
When we surrender to our will to Him, He is in full control.
When He is in total control, the impossible become possible because He is God.

Isaiah 41:10, 13, 17, 18, 20

A Cheerful Wife

But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.  2 Corinthians 9:6-7

This verse is typically mentioned when speaking about finances. That makes sense knowing the background: Paul encourages the Corinthian church to continue giving liberally.

This weekend, though, my mind opened. I took God's Word out of a box.

One of my girls - a True Sister - and I were getting it in with marriage encouragement! We were reading a book that referenced 2 Corinthians 9:8. The Spirit urged me to read the verses leading up to there and that is what's above.

It really was a light bulb moment: If I sow sparingly into my husband, I will reap sparingly; if I sow bountifully into my husband, I will reap bountifully; and when I sow it must be done cheerfully.

Simple, but very True. As Godly wives, we know what God requires of us. We are to give grace at all times - that is, even if we feel they don't deserve it, we are to give it.

Let's be honest - that can be very hard to do.
