Summa Time!

This is the 1st whole week of "no more school" and I have not been able to get a single post in...until now!
It's cool. I've been spending hardcore QT with the little people.

As much as I resist them, I see that we need a schedule for our summer to sail smoothly. This summer I'll be entertaining an almost 2 year old, a 3 year old, a 5 year old and a 9 year old - they all want to hang out with Fun as much as possible. I like Fun, he can stick around. ; )

Along with taking care of the fam, I'll be finishing up a mixtape that I feel like I have been working on forever. The due date is the end of July and I can't wait to share it with you!

Also...my VDubs and I are preparing to introduce you to the VDub ministry! We are very excited about this introduction and how it will impact YOU! If you're a woman, VDub is for you. If you're a man, VDub will affect the women around you...in a great way.

Yesterday we celebrated Jaelie's 3rd birthday. The days surrounding her birth, including the day of, were very...hmm...eventful for us! You can hear all about it in the song "2009."

The pic above is my dad, Jaelie and Laila. My dad has been taking each little person out for a couple hours on their birthday. When he came over to take Jae out, she would not leave without Laila! Basically, if he didn't take Lai, Jaelie wasn't going anywhere. So, he ended up taking them both. In that moment, I saw a beautiful picture of true sisterhood. A true sister is selfless. Whatever she has, her sister has as well. A true sister won't leave her sister behind. Whenever she goes higher or gets blessed, she will bring her sister along. ♥

It's hard to get all the little people to stay still and take a picture together! This is what I got...& I love it.

The Homeless Heroes

About a year and a half ago, my husband & I found this artist named Jerrell Johnson. His music was a breath of fresh air. It was fun, real, creative - a break from the music monotony we were experiencing.




We immediately filled our iTunes with his album and his mixtape - both can be downloaded @ jerrelljohnson.com. We jammed to it and waited for more...but more never came. We were like, where is this dude? 

A little bit ago, my husband found this video on YouTube and it had the whole family saying, 

"That's my boy!"

And even more recently...we found  THE HOMELESS HEROS.

Jerrell has hooked up with Travis Settineri to mix music and art in an exciting way.

Fan Moment!

You know how you get so excited that your eyes start to tear up a little?!  Ha, ha!
Well, that's what happened to me when I saw this email on my phone:

I had just tweeted a line from one of my fave songs on "The Whole Truth" and shouted him out @TruthOnDuty. I really wasn't expecting anything, I just wanted to share something that I think is pretty great.

I can't front, I was real hype about the follow-back. But more importantly, I am super excited to see how God is working through Da T.R.U.T.H. - my brother in Christ.

I love how his life is exemplifying 1 John 1:9 clearly: 
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Confess our sins - God is omniscient. He knows all. It is still our responsibility to CONFESS our sins and acknowledge when we do wrong. If someone offends you, the least they can do is apologize. Our sins offend God - and that's putting it lightly - the least we can do is to apologize and ask his forgiveness.

Faithful and Just to forgive us - Jesus Christ died on the cross so that our sins - past, present and future - can be forgiven. God is faithful. He will not renege on that promise. God is just; He is fair. When we believe that Jesus paid the price for our sins, God forgives us based on the price that was paid. Jesus paid for all the sins of every human being with every single drop of His blood.

Cleanse us from all unrighteousness - Not only does God forgive us when we confess our sins, He also cleans all the filth left in us from the sin. He is able to create a clean heart and renew a right spirit within us. He can fully restore us to a purified state through Jesus Christ.

It is imperative that we, as brothers and sisters in the faith, PRAY for one another. When you notice that someone may have bigger temptations, PRAY for them. When you see that God has placed a person in a position where they influence masses, PRAY for them.
Gossip is fruitless. Prayer is fruitful.

Bema Bash

On 9.10.11 (it's cool when the date does that), I was invited to minister at the Bema Bash. Bema is a new record label with the goal of promoting the gospel of Jesus Christ. This was my first time in Brooklyn and I had a lot fun.

I judged a slam dunk competition! Basketball is my favorite so that was pretty cool to me.

I have to admit, when I first heard Pro, I was not feeling his content.
I heard him on a song with Kingston, whose flow was decent in my opinion.
(Btw, where is that dude? I've been waiting to hear something new from him.)

Then, there was a pause.

When Pro returned, I could hear growth. His content was on point and there was no question that his music was created to glorify Christ alone. I dig that.

I also dig this new song from his upcoming album "Dying To Live", scheduled to drop 8/23/11.
This beat is hot. But eternity away from God is even hotter, so check the lyrics...

I meant to add this to the "Valley Girl" Post, but I forgot. I suppose it was meant to be it's own topic.
Before we minister to others, we are always the first partakers. This means that before the spirit inside of me encourages another sister (or brother), it will encourage me first. If I encourage someone to remember who they are in Christ, I first have to remember who I am in Christ. Then, I can confidently say, "Push through your trials, Sis! Keep your eyes focused on Christ during your storm! He is your help and your strength! He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly and above all you can ever imagine!" I can say these things with confidence because it's God's word and I have personally experienced Him work in my life.
In my recent time of frustration, I was blessed by the songs that God placed in my heart. Now they are available to you also - to download for free. I truly pray that the words of each song encourage you when you need a boost. God said He will NEVER leave us not forsake us! That is the truth, even when it doesn't feel like it is.
